THURSDAY 2-1 +9.60 UNITS

Here are todays games:

7 Units Tulsa -1.5 -107

Sharpshooting Tulsa (LY: 23-10 SU & 14-16 ATS) was able to stay close to the highly regarded Oklahoma Sooners on Tuesday before losing 81-73. 6'-2" Jason Parker led the Golden Hurricane with 20 points and 6'-6" Jarius Glenn added 15. Despite 17 turnovers, Tulsa was able to hang close by making 7-of-12 3-point attempts. Parker is a top notch playmaker and scorer working with a young frontcourt that will get stronger. Expectations aren't very high at TCU (LY 9-19 SU, 13-11 ATS). The Horned Frogs throttled Texas-Arligton 87-58 in their only game so far. Corey Santee, the third leading scorer a year ago hit for 14 points against Tex. - Arl. Femi Ibikunle is a 6-10, 253-pound freshman and the first true center TCU has had in a long time. Guard Marcus Shropshire (14 pts against Texas-Arlington) sat out the 2002-03 season after transferring from Texas Tech, where he showed signs of being able to score and create his own shots. Tulsa looks like a lock based on their solid showing against Oklahoma.

5 Units Richmond +8 -101

A year ago the Richmond Spiders (15-14 SU & 9-18 ATS) could be confused with the gang that couldn't shoot straight, but Richmond has started out winning 3 of their first four, though the competition hasn't been tough. On Tuesday they lost a close one to South Carolina 67-61 despite four players in double figures. The big three from a year ago, guard Tony Robbins (15 points), forward Mike Skrocki (13 points) and center Eric Zwayer (12 points) against So. Car., will form the scoring nucleus of the Spiders. UAB comes off a (21-13 SU & 17-11 ATS) year and will look to run and gun behind the scoring power of guard Morris Finley (18 ppg a year ago) and 6'-9" Gabe Kennedy (LY: 10 ppg - 5 rpg). The Blazers aren't experienced up front and will expect growing pains as opponents will have scoring opportunities there. Richmond has the size and experience necessary to exploit that weakness; Richmond topped UAB 72-68 last season.

5 Units Colorado State -2 -109

Clash of styles this game. Colorado State (1-1 SU & 0-1 ATS) has a big center who is the focal-point of the offense, while Drake (0-2 SU & 1-0 ATS) has little height and has been getting killed on the boards. Drake has allowed 74 points to Iowa and 87 to Simpson!!! The Colorado State Rams will take advantage of this poor defense by pushing it down low to 7’-0” junior Matt Nelson, who is a strong low post player at both ends. The Drake Bulldogs have a decent backcourt, but this is not a tall team led by 6’-5” sophomore Quantel Murphy (12 ppg) and 6’-3” sophomore Josh Robinson. A year ago Drake was poor at home (6-8 SU, 2-7-1 ATS) and the big visitors should have little trouble.

5 Units Bradley -5 -102

Evenly matched game as the MAC takes on the Missouri Valley Conference. The Bowling Green Falcons (2-0) have yet to be tested and they have a strong frontcourt of 6’-6” junior John Reimold (15 ppg, 6 rpg) and 6’-8” senior Josh Almanson (10 ppg). The backcourt has a very good assist man in senior Jabbari Mattox while 6’-4” sophomore Ron Lewis currently leads the team with 21 ppg. The Bradley Braves (3-1) have a run-and-gun offensive approach this season under first-year coach Jim Les. This aggressive offense is working because of an outstanding backcourt of 6’-3” senior guard Phillip Gilbert and 6’-4” senior James Gillingham. A big plus has been newcomer 6’-7” sophomore Marcellus Sommerville (18 ppg, 8.8 rpg) who has benefited in the up-tempo game. Look for a lot of points and this is the fourth home game for Bradley and they're off an 83-82 upset win over Miami as a +3 dog on a neutral court.

5 Units Mississippi State -2.5 -104

A small Western Kentucky team could get mauled under the boards this game. These teams are a combined 0-4 against the spread, though Miss State is 2-0 SU while WK is 0-2. First-year Western Kentucky coach Darrin Horn wants an up-tempo, pressing style and has decent guard play in 6’-0” junior Antonio Haynes and 6’-4” sophomore Anthony Winchester. But they've already lost to an SEC team, getting flattened 86-64 at Auburn. Mississippi State has good guards and a big frontcourt of 7'-0" C Marcus Campbell and 6'-9" newcomer Lawrence Roberts (from Baylor, and he was Baylor's best big man). On the plus side, this is the first home game for Western Kentucky and they were 17-0 SU & 9-6 ATS at home last season. But they don't match up well at all with Miss State and after two games, Western Kentucky is shooting just 66% from the free throw line.

Good luck today my friends

Just so you know Michigan State is playing Pennsylvania. Cris listed a note to notify players of teams switched.
